Last month, Windsor Gardens Healthcare Center of the Valley celebrated National Nursing Home week from May 13 - May 17.
The week’s festivities were kicked off on Monday, May 13 with a 6am omelet bar for our night shift. Our night shift was greeted by the managers serving them a hearty breakfast and given them their Nursing Home Week T-shirts, name badge holders and coffee mugs. The theme was “Work Together, Succeed Together”. We then had an ice cream sundae bar at 2pm for our day and evening shifts with games such as bed making contest and prizes.
Tuesday was sports day with staff wearing their favorite sports shirts. We served pizza and lemonaid at 2pm with games and prizes. The highlight of this day was serving a candlelight dinner to our evening staff. Our Dietary Supervisor had an action station where he created angel hair pasta with a wine caper sauce and shrimp to order for every staff member. The managers served the evening team members in courses with decorated tables with linens, fresh flowers and candles. To top it off we had a professional pianist provide the entertainment while our team dined.
Wednesday was bring your kid to work day! Our team members brought their kids to work to see the important job that they do. Activities such as painting, movies and snacks were also provided to the children. The team wore their new Windsor T-shirts this day and celebrated at the Health Fair with a lunch, massages, cosmetics, home health, life insurance, private duty nursing and our contracted therapy company all had booths with give aways and food for the staff to enjoy.
Thursday was international day. Staff dressed up to celebrate the country of their origin as well as feasted on international food. The day ended with a Bingo night with fabulous prizes.
Friday was pajama day! Staff dressed in their pajamas, enjoyed the BBQ held on the patio and then settled in for the movie night. Staff brought blankets, pillows and family members to enjoy the movie, Wreck it Ralph. We provided nachos, popcorn and drinks for all.
It was an honor to celebrate this team that covers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide the best care to our residents. Thank you, Team Windsor Gardens of the Valley!
