(LOS ANGELES, CA) SnF Management, a provider of long-term healthcare and rehabilitation services operated under the Windsor name, announced the successful acquisition of a six-facility portfolio of skilled nursing facilities from Meritcare, Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

SnF Management, a privately-owned company, was formed in 1990 by Lee C. Samson, President, and Lawrence E. Feigen, Chief Operating Officer, with the intention of turning troubled facilities into stable and profitable operations. Headquartered in Los Angeles, SnF Management currently owns and operates ten facilities located in Southern California. With the acquisition of this portfolio, SnF has expanded its holdings to Northern California with a total of 16 facilities, or 2,091 beds.

In facilities ranging from 75 to 296 beds, 2,500 Windsor employees will provide nursing care and therapeutic service to an average of 2,000 patients per day who are recovering from surgery, illness or injury. With the addition of six new facilities, annual revenues are projected to grow from $75 million to $125 million.

National lifestyle trends favor the growth of sophisticated skilled nursing facilities like those SnF operates. In fact, people over 65 years of age represent the fastest growing population demographic in the country. Given advances in medical technology and greater awareness of the importance of physical fitness, this population’s life expectancy has generally increased. As they age, however, there will be an increased need for long-term care outside the acute care hospital.

The company is in an acquisition mode. Having previously absorbed facilities into its network one-by-one, this is the first time SnF has acquired an entire portfolio. “The acquisition of these facilities is consistent with our long-term strategy,” says Samson. “We are actively seeking opportunities to expand our presence in Northern California, and eventually to nearby states, yet retain geographic control.” Samson continued, “While we intend to take our operation to new levels, it is not our goal to become the largest owner/operator of skilled nursing facilities in the area. Rather, our focus is on providing an elevated standard of care.”

Each facility offers a comprehensive range of rehabilitation services, provides “personal touch” services such as community outings, parties, and religious services, and features restaurant style dining. In addition to therapeutic services, Windsor facilities also incorporate social services for residents and their families as well as consulting services such as dental, psychotherapy and pharmacy.

Through design, construction, and decor, SnF has created homelike environments in their Windsor facilities, which when combined with a highly skilled medical staff enables residents to experience the comfort and security required to function at their highest capacity and optimum quality of life.
